Join 10ª Corrida Fernanda Ribeiro
On the 12th of May 2024, the city of Maia will host the Fernanda Ribeiro Race, organized by EventSport and Academia Fernanda Ribeiro with the support of the Municipality of Maia.
After an extraordinary last edition, which was marked by thousands of athletes running and walking along an exemplary city route, the 10 km run (10:00 am) and the 4 km walk (09:00 am) had the city of Maia, one of the most advanced municipalities in the country, with a key role in industry, innovation, new technologies and sports, being an exemplary model of economic, environmental and sports development.
The main aim of the event is to pay tribute to our athlete Fernanda Ribeiro for her history and achievements at the time as a Portuguese athlete, thus promoting health and well-being.
Maria Fernanda Moreira Ribeiro was born on June 23, 1969 in Penafiel, and is a Portuguese athlete, specialist in long distance and middle distance running. She is one of the greatest Portuguese references in the sport. In 1996, she was Olympic champion in the 10000 metres in Atlanta, becoming the third national athlete to win Olympic gold.
She is the most awarded athlete in major international competitions. She has won the gold medal at the Olympic Games, World and European Championships.
