About EDP Lisbon Marathon

In its 7th edition, the EDP Lisbon Marathon is already considered as one of the most beautiful races in the world and acclaimed by international media such as the Forbes Magazine, the Huffington Post and American Express.

Starting in Cascais and finishing at Praça do Comércio, the EDP Marathon course is 100% sea and river side, providing to the runners an unique view along the race.

The EDP Lisbon Marathon is a official race of the International Athletics Federation (IAAF) calendar and it’s becoming a top international race, attracting the top elite athletes and thousands of foreigner runners from all over the world.

Água de Luso Water– 5,0 km; 7,5 km; 10,0 km; 12,5 km; 15,0 km; 17,5 km; 20,0 km; 22,5 km; 25,0 km; 27,5 km; 30,0 km; 33,5 km; 36,0 km; 38,0 km; 40,0 km; and Finish. Powerade – 10,5 km; 20,0 km; 33,5 km; 38,0 km and Finish. Bananas from Madeira and oranges – 22.5 km e 36,0 km Olá Ice Cream – Finish Energy Bar – Finish.

Equipment Storage

Marathon The organization provides a bag suitable for placing their objects, and delivers it in one of the trucks parked at 300 m departure in Cascais (local pointed out). Although there is a tight security, the organization is not responsible for loss or damage thereof being to avoid letting values in the bag. The Half and Mini Marathon distances have no place to store objects.

Maximum Time

The time limits are 6 hours for the Marathon, and 3 hours for the Half Marathon, counting from the starting shot.

Overview

The Lisbon Marathon leaves with as newness the start in the city of Cascais. The course that leads you to the finish, will allow you to take one of the most beautiful roads in the coast (Costa do Estoril). You will have a combination of turquoise sea in the background and then entering the historic area of Lisbon. The finish line is installed in the park Expo (Parque das Nações). The start will be made in the town of Cascais, ( Baía de Cascais, Passeio D. Luís I.) then following the coastal road that runs through the cities of Carcavelos, Estoril, Oeiras, with an impressive view of the sea Belem, Jeronimos Monestery finishing at the “Praça de Comércio” in the historical center of the city, joining the Marathon and the Half Marathon runners.

  • The Lisbon Marathon, originally run in December is now part of the Rock 'n' Roll series and now takes place in October. There is also a Lisbon Half Marathon race.The Lisbon Marathon leaves for its 28th edition .
  • The race is a point-to-point race. It starts from the city of Cascais, heading east along the coast to Lisbon, runners following Marginal Road parallel to the Atlantic Ocean. The course that leads you to the finish, will allow you to take one of the most beautiful roads in the coast (Costa do Estoril).
