The EDP Lisbon Marathon has one of the most scenic courses amongst the big marathons of the world. You start Maratona de Lisboa in Cascais, the popular resort city with sandy beaches, well-preserved architecture and buzzing holiday atmosphere. The route leads you by the coastline providing amazing views and refreshing breeze. After following the coast of the Atlantic Ocean the second part of the Lisbon Marathon takes you by the mouth of the Tagus River to finally finish at Praça do Comércio, downtown Lisbon. This is a popular destination race with plenty of tourist attractions awaiting you in Lisbon - the second-oldest European capital city.

Course highlights

The Lisbon Marathon leaves with as newness the start in the city of Cascais. The course that leads you to the finish, will allow you to take one of the most beautiful roads in the coast (Costa do Estoril). You will have a combination of turquoise sea in the background and then entering the historic area of Lisbon. The finish line is installed at Praça do Comércio (historical plaza at the heart of Lisbon city). The start will be made in the town of Cascais, ( Baía de Cascais, Passeio D. Luís I.) then following the coastal road that runs through the cities of Carcavelos, Estoril, Oeiras, with an impressive view of the sea Belem, Jeronimos Monestery finishing at the “Praça de Comércio” in the historical center of the city, joining the Marathon and the Half Marathon runners.

When and where can I collect my BIB/race pack?

The delivery of the participation kitbags (bib number and official t-shirt) will take place on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, on the 03th, 04th and 05th of October from 10:00 AM to 20:00 PM, at the Seaside Sport Expo, located at Sala Tejo – Altice Arena in Lisbon.

Can someone collect my race pack for me?

The athletes can nominate someone to collect their BIB. The nominee needs to present the registration document and a copy of a personal ID document from the registered runner.

How do I get to the race location?

The starting line is located at Av. da República in Cascais. To get to the starting line the participants may use for free (presenting their BIB) the public transport system (train, subway and buses) hired by the organization, available from 6:15 am.

Is there a cut-off in the EDP Lisbon Marathon?

Yes. There will be a cut-off at 30km at 12:10 (local time). There will be a time limit of 6 hours, so from 2:30 pm, normal road traffic will be restored.

Is there a time limit to complete the Luso Half Marathon?

Yes. There will be a time limit of 3:30 hours, so from that moment on, normal road traffic will be restored.
