Zêzere Swimrun
Join Zêzere Swimrun
The Zêzere Swimrun will once more follow the undulating contours of the GRZ (Grande Rota do Zêzere) along challenging trails, encompassing the villages of Fontes and Souto, renowned for their breathtaking views of the Castelo de Bode Dam. As in previous years, the finish line will be at Praia Fluvial da Aldeia do Mato.
Central Portugal is a region rich in historical and natural heritage, yet one of the least explored in the country. We have been enamoured with the enchanting corners of the Castelo de Bode Dam and its unique attributes for practising this sport. Hence, we eagerly anticipate our return to the allure of this locale.
The warm temperatures in the late summer period are ideal for swimming, with water temperatures ranging between 20 and 23 degrees and air temperatures around 28 degrees. Exposure to the sun can make conditions quite hot, so participants must carefully manage their effort throughout this demanding route. Additionally, the fresh water in the dam offers less buoyancy, which adds an increased safety factor.
