Run together with running enthusiasts from around 80 nations through the beautiful Austrian city of Salzburg and enjoy the fantastic event that is Salzburg Marathon. The 16th edition, main competition of the Running Festival in Mozart City from May 17th to 19th, 2019 will be again a fantastic experience for its participants, enjoying the unique combination of culture and sports, the great and familiar atmosfere.

The enjoyable 21,1 km course, run twice for the marathon, is flat (max. height difference 10 m) and officially measured by the IAAF/AIMS. Runners get to pass all the city's greatest sight from a close distance. For the first time since 2015, the start and finish area for Sunday's competition are located directly in the historic center of Salzburg, an UNESCO world cultural heritage. The final meters of all main-competition on the red carpet directly ahead of famous Salzburg Festival Hall will be a very special experience to all runners.

Friday's and Saturday's competition are located at Volksgarten, where takes place the SportMall@Salzburg Marathon as-well (ice arena).

Back in 2010 Salzburg Marathon was the first sports event in Austria to get certified as an organic event by the Salzburger Landwirtschaftliche Kontrolle (SLK). This is a special honour and a further confirmation on our way to a green event. In the following eight years, the certification was verified.

We provide organic food that derives from regional cultivation since Salzburg is the region with the highest percentage of organic cultivation in the European Union. If this is not possible (for example bananas) we use organic fair-trade products“, explains CEO Johannes Langer. The race premium partners are BIO AUSTRIA.

Please note:
Despite the closure of Salzburg Airport in spring 2019 due to renovation work, Salzburg is easily accessible. Thanks to excellent train connections, Salzburg can be reached quickly from the airports of Munich (about two and a half hours), Vienna-Schwechat (about two and a half hours) and Linz (about one and a half hour).
