Run Port Douglas is Australia’s newest running event, set against the stunning backdrop of Tropical North Queensland. It offers an ideal reason to visit and explore the beauty of this remarkable region. Runners of all abilities can take part in a range of courses—2km, 5km, 10km, and a 21.1km Half Marathon—with each race finishing on the iconic sands of Four Mile Beach in Port Douglas.
Whether you're striving for a personal best or simply soaking in the incredible scenery, this event combines challenge with enjoyment. Participants can pause for photos, run with friends and family, or even dress up to win fantastic prizes, all while having fun.
The courses guide runners through the charming streets of Port Douglas, culminating in a picturesque finish on Four Mile Beach, one of the most unique race finishes in the world.
Run Port Douglas is part of the larger Port Douglas Gran Fondo Festival.
Course details
This is to warm the legs up for the run up Flagstaff Hill, up to the most photographed point in Port Douglas; the lookout over Four Mile Beach. The view from the top will be worth the 750mtr run up the hill!
Then, it’s time to return to Macrossan Street before arriving at the Esplanade running alongside the beautiful Four Mile Beach. The course will take you through a few back streets before turning left onto Port Douglas Road. The main road into Port Douglas will be divided into three lanes to allow locals to access Port Douglas still and provide our runners with a safe route as they head away from town.
After passing the sensational Sheraton Resort on your left, you will continue on Port Douglas Road before turning left into Barrier Street. You will follow this around as it turns into Reef Street until you turn right into Nautilus Street, heading up the right side of the road. This is the start of a 3.2km loop that you will do twice.
The 10km Run starts on Wharf Street, Port Douglas, in front of the Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina. The course will take runners along Wharf Street before making a right turn into Macrossan Street, the home of some of the best restaurants, cafes and retail shops in Port Douglas. You will then run down to the Esplanade running alongside the beautiful Four Mile Beach. The course will take you through a few back streets before turning left onto Port Douglas Road. The main road into Port Douglas will be divided into three lanes to allow locals to access Port Douglas still and provide our runners with a safe route as they head from town.
After passing the sensational Sheraton Resort on your left, you will continue on Port Douglas Road before turning left into Barrier Street. You will follow this around, turn left into Four Mile Beach Park, and go down to the sand.
The 5km Run is the perfect distance for those looking for a challenge but well within reach for most people. The course is one of the most spectacular in the world as you run down to the finish arch on the sands of Four Mile Beach. Join us for a wonderful morning in paradise and then stay to enjoy Port Douglas for the weekend or longer. You won't want to leave.
