9ª Shamir Corrida Portucale
Join 9ª Shamir Corrida Portucale
Take the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the city of Porto and come to appreciate closely all the surrounding that there are two municipalities, oporto and Vila Nova de Gaia. The Portucale Race also offers a distance of 5k that you can choose to walk.
Rosa Mota is the Godmother of the race!
Considered by many as one of the best runners of the 20th century, Rosa Maria Correia dos Santos Mota is a former Portuguese Olympic and World Marathon champion.
The name of the race comes from the ancient town and port, Portus Cale situated in close by oPorto in the great oPorto area. The name of the town eventually influenced the name of the subsequent country Portugal.
It's easy to fly to Porto from most large and some small airports around Europe. The summer in July is usually great and Porto is a city to do a lot of exploring in, eat delicious seafood, try out the local speciality francesinha or simply walk around and get lost in its beautiful cobblestoned streets.
If you want to make a road trip out of it you can also continue further up North after finishing the Corrida Portucale and enjoy some of the picturesque coastal towns. Rent a house by the ocean or stay in a cosy local bed and breakfast. Beautiful nature, kind people and truly idyllic.
