À propos Rome International Marathon

Join the official Rome International Marathon 2019!

If you're looking for the ideal combination of athletic challenges and a great weekend of sightseeing, the Rome International Marathon is the place to go. Held annually in the spring, when Rome International Marathon attracts more and more runners each year.

The start line is located in front of the 2,000 year old Colosseum, and from here is a real festival of magnificent sights. Amongst other things, you will run past St. Peter's Basilica, the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, the Spanish Steps and a lot of picturesque, narrow streets in the old part of the city. So, remember your camera but leave your aspirations at home - you need to appreciate all the breathtaking landmarks and to conquer the cobblestones, that cover about half the road. The course is surprisingly flat for a city built on seven hills, but the sometimes cobblestone streets, which in the narrowest places can feel quite crowded, can add a few extra minutes to your finish time.

IMPORTANT: If you are not registered in your country for your National Athletics Federation recognized by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), you will need to purchase a RunCard and get your medical certificate, both available on our platform. Only mandatory for runners attending the Marathon and not the 5KM Fun Run.

I do not see how anyone can claim that the route is not an interesting one, as you couldn't hope for much more sightseeing on a Marathon route. The chance to run through St Peters Square as Pope Franc...

TEMPS FORTS

Few cities can rival Rome's astonishing artistic heritage. Throughout history, the city has starred in the great upheavals of Western art, drawing the top artists of the day and inspiring them to push the boundaries of creative achievement. The result is a city awash with priceless treasures. Ancient statues adorn world-class museums, Byzantine mosaics and Renaissance frescoes dazzle in the city's art-rich churches, baroque facades flank medieval piazzas. Walk around the centre and without even trying you’ll come across masterpieces by the giants of the artistic pantheon – sculptures by Michelangelo, canvases by Caravaggio, Raphael frescoes and fountains by Bernini.

VUE D'ENSEMBLE

The Rome Marathon starts at on the Via dei Fori Imperiali in the shadow of the Coliseum. proceeds through the city passing such famous landmarks as the Piazza di Spagna, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, the Saint Peter's and Piazza Venezia. Molto bello! Despite Rome being the 'City of Seven Hills' the race is very flat. This gives runners the chance of a PB. However with cobblestones en route some participants will struggle. For all those who make it to the end they will end the race close to the start, back at the Coliseum.

Rome International Marathon Trivia

In 2010, winner Siraj Gena of Ethiopia finished the race barefoot to honour his countryman Abebe Bikila who won the Olympic marathon in Rome exactly 50 years earlier. Throughout the years, Rome Marathon has made good use of its unique status as the capital of the Catholic Church. For example, the turn of the millenium was celebrated by moving the start area to Saint Peter’s Square and having the Pope himself wish all the runners good luck before the run.

Rome International Marathon Prix des Billets: €10,00 - €80,00
