Highlights

The route is the result of our research deep into the hills. We have created a course which is almost entirely very runnable trail covering a huge variety of landscapes.

You will discover ethnic minority villages that no car can access hidden deep in rugged terrain. You will run through flower fields, tea plantations and orchards. You will share the trails with local farmers, horses, donkeys, buffalo, wild pigs and more.

Run Vietnam Trail Marathon and discover hidden trails, venturing way beyond the trodden path.

Overview

With plenty of gain, this is a tough ultra marathon that should only be undertaken by experienced runners.

After a lakeshore start surrounded by pine forest, a runnable few km of flowing trail leads to a very steep climb into remote backcountry – in this area the ethnic minority settlements are definitely not named on Google maps.

After 19km you will head into a section that only the 70k runners will see and which is very much off the beaten path. Here you will ascend to the highest point on the course before running down to CP3.

After joining the 42k runners in the village of Ban Doi (CP5) your tired legs face another major climbing challenge up to CP6 in Pa Ken 2 village. Soon after this you will turn onto another exclusive 70k section including many blossom orchards before you head to the stunning finish line tea plantation.
