RMB Ultra-trail® Drakensberg is a festival of trail running with events of 160km, 100km, 65km, 36km and 25km. All events take place within the Southern area of the internationally renowned Maloti Drakensberg World Heritage Site and large swathes of this iconic wilderness are traversed.
Incorporating and skirting some of the legendary features of the Southern Drakensberg such as Sani Pass, Twelve Apostles, Khanti Ridge, Hodgson’s Peaks, Garden Castle, Rhino Peak and Langalibalele’s Pass, participants in RMB Ultra-trail® Drakensberg will experience mountain running at its very finest.
Course details
UTD100 Starting at Silverstreams, the course undertakes the full Giant’s Cup Trail, featuring more mountain running than previous years. Runners climb the Twelve Apostles, along Khanti Ridge and down past Salt and Pepper Aid Station before making their way down to Glencairn Farm.
GCU65 The Race Start at Silverstreams sends runners onto the famous Giant’s Cup Trail. Panoramic views, flowing trails over & through high mountains with valleys featuring streams and pools and weathered rock formations await on this world-renowned trail. The trail turns off at Stromness Trail, heading down towards the finish at Glencairn farm.
SDR36 A start at Castleburn, the race is a sunset chase over the striking second half of the Giant’s Cup Trail, turning off at Stromness, navigating down, skipping the Gorge, setting this one up as a furiously fast and flowing race.
DRJ25 Starting at the Premier Resort Hotel, the first climb up takes runners past the Salt and Pepper Aid Station on their way to the Waterfall. A sting of an ascent awaits, sending them over Stromness, through Sani Valley Gate and onto the finish line.

Frequently asked questions
Can I change the distance after I purchase a ticket?
You may downgrade (e.g. 100km to 65km) at any time before 07 April, provided that the respective race is not sold out. No partial refunds for downgrading. You may upgrade your event, e.g. from 36km to 65km, at any time before 07 April provided that the respective race is not sold out. You will need to cover the difference in the entry fee on the given date.
What is the cancellation/refund policy for this event?
If a runner wishes to cancel their entry, Summit Events requires written confirmation to email or before the following dates: 50% - up until 01 February. 40% - from 02 February to 01 March. 30% - from 02 March to 01 April. 0% - from 02 April. No substitutions are allowed. No deferrals will be accepted for health reasons or injury. The only exception is if the runner is pregnant and we require a doctor’s letter/medical certificate emailed directly to the organisation. A deferral is valid for one year only. Certificates need to reach us by 07 April 2025.
Race start shuttles?
Shuttles to your race start are available from the Race Village at Glencairn Farm. Please make sure you add a Race Shuttle to your entry at checkout. The Shuttles will depart timeously and the onus is on the athlete to arrive on time. Should an athlete miss their Shuttle the responsibility will lie with them to get to their respective start.
Can I have the GPX?
The GPX files are released in the Race Week. This is to protect you from having outdated maps on your device in the case that there any changes made to the course. All the technical information, containing timing points and Aid Station locations, can be found on each Race Page. There is also an interactive 3D map that can be used.
What kind of food with the Aid Stations have?
You can expect a range of whole foods, such as bananas and oranges, banana bread, some Aid Stations will have soup. All Water Points and Aid Stations will have plain water. Please bring your own cup and bottle as you will not be allowed to take any external or other bottles, cans, or cups from the Aid Station.
Where do I collect my merchandise order?
You will collect your order from the Race Village when you register.
