In late may Green Europe Marathon and the Green Europe Half Marathon will be held in Trieste, featuring two of the most spectacular courses in the world, between the Karst upland and the sea.The Green Europe Marathon will be the main and most attractive event of this edition of Bavisela, a sports festival taking place in Trieste, Italy, together with a series of recreational and social activities.Lipica Stud Farm will host the start of the Green Europe Marathon for the first time.
The marathon will start from Lipica, in nearby Slovenia, after 2015 success with a course running through the villages in the Slovenian and Triestine Karst, before reaching the scenic Coastal Road, and continuing along Barcola waterfront and then diving into the heart of the city. The half marathon will start from Duino as usual.The finish line of both races will be in Unità d’Italia, Trieste, the largest European square overlooking the sea.
The routes of the main runs; the Miramar Family, the Green Europe Marathon and Half and the new Costiera Run (29,2 k), this year will focus on the most fascinating spots of Trieste, together with the Coastal road, among the most panoramic in the world.
All the runs will start in Miramare and the finish line will be in the beautiful Unità d’Italia square, on the city waterfront.

here are drink stations set up along the course some offering drinks, supplements and energy food. Every station will have toilet facilities and our staff will help competitors get their drinks.Venue facilities include: Massage, showers, personal clothes transport from the start to the finish.
Athletes’ bags must be personally placed inside the vans near the start line. The bags must have the athlete’s running number clearly visible and should only contain the clothes to change after the race. Bags must be handed in HALF AN HOUR BEFORE THE START OF THE RACE.
Time limit for Marathon is 6 hours and for Half Marathon 3 hours.

Before the race, a free shuttle service, reserved for participants only, will be available to reach the start area. Roads will be closed so reaching the start with your own car will be difficult. Shuttles will leave from Piazza Libertà – Trieste. To get into the buses, you will have to show your running number. A free transport service for athlete’s personal will be available from the start area to the finish area in Trieste (Piazza dell’Unità d’Italia).
