The Loop Ultra
Join The Loop Ultra 2025
The Loop Ultra 32-Mile trail event offers an exhilarating challenge along spectacular and rugged trails in the remote, less-explored Cambrian Mountains of Mid Wales. This event draws participants of all levels, from elite runners to ultra beginners, and promises an unforgettable experience. Due to the unique, wild, and eco-friendly setting, participation is limited to 100 runners (along with friends and family). This is a self-navigation challenge, supported by trackers and back runners, with a generous 12-hour cut-off time to help you conquer The Loop.
Starting from Camp Plas, a nature retreat near the village of Dolanog, this course winds through forest trails, ancient paths, and scenic routes towards stunning Lake Vyrnwy, often brushing against the Glyndŵr Way. Along the way, you'll enjoy breathtaking views of the Shropshire Hills and southern Snowdonia, accompanied by red kites and abundant wildlife. As summer fades into autumn, the vibrant colors will make the journey even more memorable.
This is a canicross-friendly event. Dogs over 12 months old, fit to run, and kept on a lead are welcome, with owners responsible for their pets throughout the event. However, due to the added advantage of running with a dog, canicross participants won’t be eligible for trophies.
We're excited to host this inaugural event at Camp Plas, a unique and eco-friendly venue. The weekend offers exclusive camping options, including field bell tents and cozy log cabins with full amenities. Situated on a small working farmstead along the River Vyrnwy, this site even allows for wild bathing. For those interested, you can directly book accommodations with Camp Plas.
Participants arriving on Friday evening for pre-registration can enjoy a pre-race BBQ with locally-sourced food and drinks. After the race on Saturday, there will be live local music, delicious food, and more beer in the beautiful open barn. Additional weekend activities include lake paddleboarding, an outdoor mobile sauna, and Sunday yoga in the barn. Fire pits are available on-site (camp rules apply).
Our checkpoints along the route will be well-stocked, catering to all dietary needs, including vegan options. We can’t wait to see you there!
