Kiepersol Wine Farm
21100-21450 Dorsey Rd, Tyler, TX 75703, USA
The race takes runners – and walkers, thanks to its generous five-hour course time limit – through the 63-acre Kiepersol Wine Farm, which was planted back in the late 1990s and today is known for its breathtaking views as well as its unique geography.
The winery sits on top of a geologic feature known as the Bullard Salt Dome, which over time has brought Jurassic soils up to the surface, soils that it turns out are perfect for growing wine grapes.
Runners will get to take in all of this on their tour around the vineyard, and know that their race benefits a worthy cause, as proceeds will go toward the Texas-based nonprofit A World for Children, which provides support and foster homes for abused and neglected children.
The Texas Wine Series Half Marathon & Vintage 5K at Kiepersol course starts and finishes in Kiepersol’s 61 acres of beautiful vineyards just south of Tyler, Texas. The 5K, and the first 3.1 miles of the Half Course, will be on Kiepersol vineyard which enjoys a varied elevation. 5K runners will conclude their race on property. Half Marathon runners will continue onto Dorsey Road where the route takes runners onto a series of county roads for the out & back course. At about mile 3.5, the course veers right onto County Road 113 for a couple of miles. Then, Half Marathoner runners will turn to the left onto County Road 129 until the halfway turn-around point and return. The best part of the course is the vineyard with its varied topography and elevation which, in some parts, is a lot like trail running and includes a beautiful straight, flat green corridor; the next best is the peaceful country roads.
