Join 3 Country Marathon 2026
The Three Country marathon is something unique. Unique because of the route, which passes from Germany, through Austria and Switzerland. Unique with the start on the island, the picture-book impressions along Lake Constance, and the goosebumps feeling at the entrance to the finish in Bregenz. You will run mainly around the lake, and will always be surrounded by beautiful, snow-capped mountains. But no need to worry, it is a very flat course.
Once again, the Swiss marathon champions will be determined on the flat and fast track. Many services are included for participants apart from the race!
Crossing national borders is as natural for Central Europeans as the changing seasons. This is not commonplace in a marathon. And if there is an EU external border, it is indeed unique. The three country marathon is something unique with the start on the island, the picture-book impressions along Lake Constance, the passage of the largest open-air stage in the world, crossing the state borders and the goose bumps feeling at the entrance to the finish in Bregenz.
You will run mainly around the lake, and will always be surrounded by beautiful, snow capped mountains. Also, you will pass by the world’s largest open theatre, where the latest James Bond movie was filmed.

Preguntas frecuentes
When and where can I collect my BIB/race pack?
Friday, October 9th: 1-6 p.m. Saturday, October 10th: 9am-6pm Sunday, October 11th: 7-9 a.m. The race number distribution takes place at the Festspielhaus in Bregenz. The race number must be picked up in person.
Can someone collect my race pack for me?
The starting number has to be picked up in person.
How do I get to the race location?
Participants, hands and spectators can travel comfortably and with their starting number or the free ticket by bus and train within Vorarlberg and by train from the border stations in Buchs, St. Margrethen (CH), Lindau (D) and St. Anton am Arlberg to the Sparkasse 3-Country Marathon.
What is the cancellation/refund policy for this event?
Unfortunately, a refund of the participant fee is not possible. If you are unable to start for private or health reasons, we recommend transferring your right to start to another participant free of charge.
Free ship transfer
Since the start and finish locations are different, we recommend that all participants travel to Bregenz on the day of the race. There are sufficient parking spaces available in Bregenz in car parks P1 - P4. From there, follow the signs for "Hafen", which is a few minutes' walk away. Here, the special "Vorarlberg Lines" boats are waiting for you and will take you directly to the start on the island of Lindau in Lake Constance from 8:15 a.m. The transfer takes approximately 20 minutes. Accompanying persons and spectators can purchase discounted tickets on the boat for the trip to Lindau in Lake Constance and back to Bregenz for €9.50 (round trip). A free boat transfer for participants is only available in the morning on the special boats. The start number counts as your ticket. (Please select accordingly when registering)
Baby joggers and Nordic Walking
We would like to open the course to young mothers and fathers with their offspring. However, due to various narrow sections and the narrow width of the course in some places, especially along the shores of Lake Constance, we have decided not to allow participants with baby joggers. We hope you respect our decision, which was not an easy one for us, but is necessary for the safety of the runners.
Journey to the finish in Bregenz by public transport
Traveling by train is recommended, as Bregenz's main train station is located in the immediate vicinity of the finish area and the harbor. On Sunday, use of trains and buses within the Vorarlberg transport network and the neighboring communities in Germany and Switzerland is free for participants with a race number and for spectators with a coupon.
Journey to the finish in Bregenz by car
Coming from Germany, take the A 96 towards Austria. No motorway toll sticker is required. Immediately after the Pfänder Tunnel, leave the A 14 (exit 9) towards the City Tunnel to Bregenz. Then follow the signs for "Festspiele" and "Casinostadion" and the parking guidance system to the lakeside parking lots P1 – P4. From the parking lots, you can reach the harbor and the finish line at the Casinostadion in ten and five minutes, respectively. The routes are clearly signposted. You can also use our route planner. If you're coming from Switzerland, please be aware that the St. Margrethen border crossing will be closed in the late morning and early afternoon due to the marathon. We therefore recommend arriving in good time via the E 60 (Schweizer/Rheinstraße), or even better, by public transport.
