Join Run for Sri Lanka - Kandy Half Marathon 2026
Kandy Half Marathon is the first edition of a running event set in Sri Lanka’s hill capital, starting and finishing at Gatambe Grounds. The event offers race categories for different levels of runners.
The route highlights Kandy’s mix of cultural heritage, natural scenery, and colonial-era character. Participants will run through a city known for the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, Kandy Lake, the Royal Botanic Gardens in Peradeniya, and historic architecture that reflects its past as an ancient kingdom and later colonial centre.
Kandy also has a strong sporting identity, with well-known cricketers such as Muttiah Muralitharan and Kumar Sangakkara associated with the city, along with an active rugby culture at school and club level. The event combines running with the atmosphere of Kandy’s cooler climate, cafés, tea culture, and heritage surroundings.
