Join Mount TrusMadi International Climbathon
The first-ever Mount TrusMadi International Climbathon promises an exhilarating and challenging competition, dedicated to showcasing Mount TrusMadi, Malaysia's second-highest peak (2,642m or 8,668ft), to a global audience. Nestled in the picturesque highland district of Tambunan, Sabah, Mount TrusMadi provides breathtaking natural beauty for this event. Mount TrusMadi is distinguished by the unique pitcher plant, Nepenthes x trusmadiensis, endemic to Mount TrusMadi alone.
This competitive and physically demanding race combines elements of mountain climbing and trail running with the goal of reaching the summit and completing the course as quickly as possible. Participants will experience the excitement and challenge of ascending and descending steep terrains, navigating the mountain's unique features, and showcasing their endurance and skill. The race highlights the natural beauty and distinctive features of Mount TrusMadi, contributing to the development of eco-tourism in the area.
This event is organized by the Velocity Running Club in collaboration with several key partners, including the Sabah Forestry Department, Sabah Tourism Board, and the Tambunan District Office.
Course details
The 21km course begins at Gate Kupu-Kupu, leading participants on a descent to Mirad Irad Base Camp, further to Boardwalk Starting point, and ultimately looping back to Gate Kupu-Kupu. Featuring an estimated total ascent of 967 meters, this course covers 2km of asphalt roads and 19km of dirt roads, excluding ascent to the Mount TrusMadi summit. Throughout this adventure, participants can immerse themselves in the scenic allure of lush rainforest jungles and enjoy breath-taking mountain views throughout the journey.

You have the option to collect the race pack at one of the location. Race Pack 1 at Hotel N°5, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia on 23/5/2024, 10am - 8pm. Race Pack 2 at Pisompuruan Square, Tambunan, Sabah, Malaysia on 24/5/2024, 10am - 5pm.
What is the cancelation/refund policy for this event?
Registration fees are non-refundable, even in the event that participants do not attend the race pack collection or fail to start the race.
