Mount Desert Island Marathon features a hilly, scenic route. Runners will pass vistas, lakes, forests and quaint villages.
Runners, especially experienced ones, tend to welcome the challenge of the route, as well as the stunningly beautiful backdrop of Acadia National Park during peak fall foliage season. The course is a true test and a breathtaking journey.
The Marathon route has been certified at 26 miles 385 yards (42.195km) by USATF. The certification sanctions the Mount Desert Island Marathon as a direct qualifier for the Boston Marathon.
The event also features a half marathon run that starts a Northeast Harbor as well as a team relay comprising of two or three persons in the marathon.
