Maratón Internacional De Buenos Aires is an annual marathon foot-race which takes place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, during the Southern Hemisphere’s Spring, usually in October.The Buenos Aires Marathon was first run in 1984 when it was won by Ruben Aguiar. It is organized by the Foundation for Sport Rhea Argentino. The International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) appointed Buenos Aires Marathon as one of the qualifying events in this trial for the Olympics. One of the main objetive of the Buenos Aires Marathon, is that the athletes enjoy to the maximum of Buenos Aires.

It is mandatory to present your medical certificate on the race day to participate in the event.

Aid Stations

 The organization will have the service of ambulances and medical tents along the route, along with the corresponding mobiles and the presence of doctors, paramedics and first responders. The committed medical and ambulance service will be provided in accordance with the rules of art and within the technical and / or factual possibilities of the event that requires it, within the shortest possible time, and in accordance with the assistance protocol prepared by the Organization, and must consequently accept participants who know and accept that such assistance can not be inmediata.-

Equipment Storage

The Organization shall make available to / athletes cloakrooms services. It is only allowed to store in the same garments, being prohibited to store valuables (wallets, documents, money, cell phones, electronic devices, etc). The organization is not responsible for loss and / or theft of personal items, both in the wardrobe and during the event. When leaving your belongings you will receive a waterproof paper ticket, with a unique identification number. Saved items may be removed in the tent where they were left, upon delivery of the ticket.

Buenos Aires Marathon is for athletes looking to enjoy the beautiful city of Buenos Aires, visiting the most emblematic and historical places of the city. During the 42 km, you will find beautiful lakes and forests, the luxurious Alvear street with the best hotels, the financial world in downtown, Government House, next to the cathedral chapter and also the obelisk, the tourist district of San Telmo the famous stadium of Boca Juniors and River Plate, the colorful La Boca, the upscale neighborhood of Puerto Madero, the widest river in the world and the new modern Sarmiento Avenue tunnel, ending this amazing tour in the wooded Av . Figueroa Alcorta.

Overview

It starts and finishes at Pres Av Figueroa Alcorta 7100 (and Monroe), passing through urban sections of Buenos Aires as well as lakeside and forest areas. The course visits many important spots of the city, featuring Callao Avenue, the River Plate Stadium, Libertador Avenue, Palermo neighbourhood, Corrientes Avenue, passing by the famous Gardel's neighbourhood, then down to La Boca's Caminito, to return passing by Puerto Madero, Casa Rosada, and the city centre.

  • The 21st edition of the Buenos Aires Marathon started on October 9, 2005 at 7:30 at the 9 de Julio Avenue and Córdoba Avenue in the Recoleta neighbourhood, being the start also the ending point after the 42.195 kilometres (26 miles and 385 yards) of the classic race.
  • Participants enjoy many impressive sights along the route. This includes running past the stunning lakes and forests, the opulent Alvear street with some of the best hotels in the city, the financial district, the Government House, then past the Obelisk and through the tourist district of San Telmo. From there it's onto the River Plate soccer stadium, the colorful La Boca, and many more amazing sights before reaching the finish line at Figueroa Alcorta.
  • Jonas Gutierrez has run the Buenos Aires Marathon in a bid to raise money and awareness for a cancer charity back home in Argentina.
