The marathon is ran with in the Sri Lanka city well known as the " Pearl of the Indian Ocean" is fast developing in to an ideal destination for recreational activities.Its tropical weather , white sandy beaches , warm waters of the Indian Ocean , numerous inland waterways , picturesque landscapes, challenging natural terrain - all contribute in making it one of the finest recreational destinations in Asia.
Athletes will run through Borella, Dematagoda, Peliyagoda, Wattala along the Hamilton Canal, Pamunugama, Thalahena, Pitipana, Duwa to Lewis Place where the race ends at the Beach Park in Negombo.
Upon successful completion of the event for five year's, it was decided to change and retain the name as the Colombo Marathon in 2006. (in 2000, 2005 & 2009 the event was not held due to unavoidable circumstances)
