Join Kernave Trail 2025
The Kernavė - Vilnius Trail Race is Lithuania's oldest ongoing ultra-trail event, set to celebrate its 10th edition next year. Established in 2015, the race connects Lithuania’s historic 13th-century capital, Kernavė, with its modern capital, Vilnius, via a scenic and challenging trail. Although the two cities are less than 35 km apart as the crow flies, the race route spans over 80 km, weaving along river bends, through fields and forests, and over ancient mounds.
To mark its 10th anniversary, the event is introducing a special 160 km (100-mile) Vilnius-Kernavė-Vilnius route for the first time.
What makes it special?
Expect a lush, green experience: approximately 80% of the course passes through dense forests, with the remaining sections following the Neris River, wild meadows, and quaint settlements. While Lithuania is known as one of Europe’s flattest countries, the route offers rolling hills, river valleys, and steep inclines, culminating in a 3,600-meter vertical climb on the 100-mile course.
For runners not ready to tackle the full ultra-distances, there’s a spectacular 42 km trail marathon starting in the ethnographic village of Šilėnai. This route joins the ultra-course and finishes in Vilnius, featuring all the most challenging and scenic parts. While it may not be your fastest marathon, it promises to be one of the most memorable.

When and where can I collect my BIB/race pack?

Can I change the distance after I purchase a ticket?
If you want to change your distance to a longer one after you have already made the payment, you have to pay the fees difference.
What is the cancellation/refund policy for this event?
Fees are not refundable and cannot be transferred to other participants.
Mandatory gear for 82km and 42km
- charged and working cell phone, - GPX track imported to sports watch or cell phone, - a fluid container of at least 500ml (though 1 litter or more is advised), - reusable cup to be used at refreshment stations. Recommended: anti chafing cream, sunscreen, mosquitoes repellent, emergency blanket, tape, plasters, head protection from the sun, sunglasses, a bit of cash.
