Join Sofi Malt Lake Hawassa Half Marathon
The 2025 Sofi Malt Lake Hawassa Half Marathon takes place in Hawassa on Sunday 9th February 2025. This is the 13th staging of the event which comprises a Half Marathon, a 8km run, and children's races. This page is for entry into the half marathon.
Hawassa, a beautiful lakeside town on the shores of Lake Hawassa, is situated 275km south of Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa at an altitude of 1700m above sea level. Participants will run on a new scenic course which starts near to the city airport and runs along the shores of Lake Hawassa.
The event also gives participants the opportunity to stay on the lakeshore at Haile Resort Hotel owned by Haile Gebrselassie. Rooms fill up quickly and participants are advised to make bookings early. Please email Richard at the email below to arrange this.
Temperatures in Hawassa in February tend to rise to around 30C in the middle of the day but are at around 10-15C in the early morning when the half-marathon starts.
