About Hares And Hounds Trail Run

The event is based from the Woodford Pool which is much appreciated after running in the summer heat. We keep this event very low key: the only award is the luxury of completing and finishing, a great team building day. The Run Inn is the organiser, checkpoint volunteers provider and random draw sponsor.

Overview

Woodford – 9.5km

All events start outside the Woodford pool on Peterson Rd. Head down Petersen Rd to its end and straight ahead into a narrow rough bush track. Turn left at its end and up the hill for 300m to take a right turn. Follow this track for 1km and turn left at its end at the telegraph lines and run this open road for another 800m. Take a sneaky narrow track to the left for just over 100m and turn right through the creek up the hill down the other side, over a causeway and straight ahead for 1km. Make a left turn and follow for 1.5km. Take a right turn to follow the Golf Course perimeter fence for 1.2km and then head north over Woodford-Beerburrum Rd for 300m and take the track to the right that runs parallel with Woodford-Beerburrum Rd for 3km to Checkpoint 1 and Changeover 1.

Blackrock – 7.0km

This is a muddy section mainly on well-formed tracks. Head north for 2.2km and turn right to follow a track that will eventually run the perimeter fence of the macadamia farm.
Pass under the transmission lines and in 100m take the dirt road to the right and in 200m the track on the left in front of the large white gum tree. Run, slip and slide your way for 2km to reach
Checkpoint 2 and Changeover 2.
Relay team vehicles can park on Woodford-Glasshouse Rd.

Hennessey’s Hill – 4.0km

Take a southerly direction and exit the road where the checkpoint is situated to diagonally cross over Woodford-Glasshouse Rd. to the right and take the trail that will run down Hennessey’s Hill for1.5km. Take a sharp left turn onto a dirt road and follow for 800m to take a right turn at a T-intersection. Before cresting the next hill turn right and run downhill for 1km to
Checkpoint 3 and Changeover 3.

Relay team vehicles can park on either of the side roads off Woodford-Beerburrum Rd.

Twins – 5.5km

Head south for 2km and then east for 400m following markings and this will bring you to McConnells Rd which borders the Twins National Park. Take the road to the left and follow for 1.2km and then right turn still following the Twins borderline. Pass the walking track entrance to the Twins on the right and take the first major track on the left to follow to Checkpoint 4 and Changeover 4 at Woodford-Beerburrum Rd. which is 600m shy of the Old Gympie Rd intersection.

The Checkpoint Chart below indicates the course sections that you will be covering. It shows all sections you will need to navigate your route from them. Write the order of your event checkpoints on your arm or race bib.
