It might still be cold during mid-March in Chicago, but that doesn’t stop runners from getting outside the weekend before St. Patrick’s Day during Chicago’s Get Lucky Half Marathon, 14K & 7K, Organized by Team Ortho, which organizes similar events in Minneapolis and Dallas/Fort Worth, the Get Lucky events see hundreds of runners cross the finish line every year.
Course highlights
Chicago’s Get Lucky Half Marathon starts and finishes at Soldier Field and takes runners on an out-and-back course along Chicago’s Lakefront Trail. Half marathoners make their way down 6.5 miles of the Lakefront Trail, passing attractions such as the McCormick Bird Sanctuary, 31st Street Harbor, Burnham Park, Museum of Science and Industry, and Jackson Park before turning around and retracing their path back to the finish line.
