Atlas Marathon Ultra Trail
Join Atlas Marathon Ultra Trail 2025
Brings together mountain trail running enthusiasts around an ambitious sports project: the organization of a trail in the heart of the UNESCO geopark of Mgoun starting from the Happy Valley of Ait Bouguemez, bringing together sports lovers, in accordance with the values that we defend: conviviality, authenticity, humility and solidarity.
This will lead participants to discover, along the proposed routes, the Berber villages of the central Atlas, in particular the summit of Mgoun, which overlooks the small valleys of Ikkiss n'aarous, oulilmt, ouzighimt and the view towards the south and the borders of the Sahara.
It will bring together as many people as possible for an event that is intended to be sporting but also charitable.
Beyond the sporting challenge itself, the objective is to promote our territory: the M'goun Unesco Geo Park.
Its purpose is to promote the central high atlas through sport and to convey simple and universal values, conviviality, respect for athletes and landscapes.
Aït Bouguemez, is the name of the valley and its inhabitants which is derived from the name Aït Bouguemez which means in the local Berber language "the people of the middle" because of the location of the valley, in the heart of the mountains of the central High Atlas. It is also known as "the happy valley". This name was given to it by foreign visitors impressed by the hospitality of its inhabitants and their joy.
The valley is located on the border of the provinces of Azilal and Ouarzazate. Its altitude ranges from 1800m to 2300m in the central High Atlas, dominated by the M'Goun massif culminating at 4068m. The valley is overlooked on all sides by several peaks exceeding 3000 m in altitude.
