The Dunkin’ Run Arc Race will be held on Saturday, at Long Branch Park in Liverpool from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The USATF-certified event includes Half Marathon and 5K runs, a non-competitive 3K Family Fun Walk and a Kids 1 Mile Fun Run. Expected to draw almost 2,000 runners, walkers and volunteers from the Central New York community, the road race raises critical funds for programs and services for people with developmental disabilities.
Courses for the Half Marathon and 5K runs are USA Track & Field certified. Leone Timing will provide timing and results using ChronoTrack bib tag technology. Start time for the Half Marathon is at 9:00 a.m., followed by 9:10 a.m. for the 5K, and 9:12 a.m. for the 3K. Start time for the Kids Fun Run is at 8:30 a.m. Registration and check-in begin promptly at 7:00 a.m. Pre-registration at Fleet Feet Sports is also available the day before the Race, Friday, September 7th, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at their Bridge Street store in East Syracuse.
This our annual event of our Athletes in Tandem program which fosters relationships between athletes with disabilities and community runners to enhance their quality of life by allowing them the opportunity to compete in competitive sporting events. Thanks to the overwhelming community support the program has received, the Arc of Onondaga Foundation was able to purchase five new adaptive jogging strollers this past year, allowing a total of 25 Arc athletes to be pushed by local runners in the 5K, half marathon and 3k walk events.
The 5k & Half-Marathon courses are certified by the USATF. Course numbers are NY04043AM for the 5k and NY04042AM for the Half Marathon. Courses must be certified for any road running performance to be accepted as a record or to be nationally ranked. Furthermore, running a race on a certified course allows you to accurately compare your time to performance runs on other certified courses because you can be sure the distances were exactly the same. No one can truly establish a personal best if the course distance is not accurate. Not only does this enable accurate timing, but also allows us to quickly post results on race day.
