The Drop York Evening Adventure

We put you on a bus...
We blindfold you...
We take you to an unknown location...
You have no tech, no map, no watch, no idea where you are...
Will you make it back to HQ or be lost for ever?

Drawing on a bit of military expertise, we've crafted what might be the UK's most challenging race: The Drop 10 Mile.

Participate solo or assemble a team however you like. During registration, you'll surrender all electronic devices, including phones, watches, and any cash. In return, you'll receive a race number and an emergency bag.

You'll then be blindfolded* and transported by bus to a drop location, a straight-line distance from the event center. From that spot, you'll be released with a single objective: find your way back to the event center.

No Map. No GPS. No Route. No Help. No Compass.

You'll be fully self-sufficient from the moment you step off the bus. Whether you choose to run, walk, or crawl, the journey back is entirely up to you.

What is the terrain?

keyboard_arrow_down

How the heck do we know, the route is entirely your choice, hills, moors, canals, tracks and road... You decide, but what ever you do, make sure you have fun, enjoy this as an adventure not a race!

What kit do I need to bring on the day?

keyboard_arrow_down

There are several things that you will need on the day to help you to perform your best, the following list is just a suggestion of what we have found useful - talk to other athletes, join a local club who will be able to give you some great advice and develop a list to best suit you.
Warm/suitable clothes for prior to and after the event, these can be left at the HQ and will be at there on your return. (leave nothing on the transport)
Race numbers - pinned/attached to your race t-shirt/top or race belt, and any medical conditions clearly written on the back of your number.
You will need to show your race numbers for the duration of the event and at prize giving.

(you collect these from us at registration on the day) Map of how to get to the event venue!

Are there any water/feed stations?

keyboard_arrow_down

NO but, you may pass shops etc so take some change or bank card!

Mandatory kit (evening events)

keyboard_arrow_down

1. Waterproof jacket. 2. Waterproof trousers see point 1 (we may drop this requirement but this is our decision NOT yours, bring them. 3. Foil blanket 4. Whistle 5. Winter races, any event from October 25th to April 20th you will also be required to have a back light, a glow stick or similar is ok, can other road users see you! 6, Head torch, you will be required to carry and use a head torch. (think! will the batteries last 5 hours, if not, take spares!) 7, Hi-Viz, you must wear Hi-viz during your adventure. We will be doing spot checks on the day, anyone who does not have this minimum kit or in OUR opinion is not prepared for the weather / event will NOT be starting.
Foil blankets can be purchased on the day £2.50 each. Be sensible, we will slacken off on some items if the weather is in our favour and this is our decision not yours, so make sure you have it all on the day.
