Supermaratona dell'Etna
Join Supermaratona dell'Etna
The Supermaratona dell'Etna, an 'abnormal' distance in the Ultra (just above the limit of discrimine with marathons of 42.195 km) and the difficulties related to the high altitude difference make the SuperMaratona dell'Etna the most beautiful vertical of Europe.
Runners will climb Etna's flank from the main route called Mareneve which, from Linguaglossa, leads to Piano Provenzana (North ski resort). Here the participants will leave the road, to continue on the trail leading to 3000 meters of altitude, where the finish line is planned at a place called "Pizzi de Neri" (close to the Caldera "Valle del Bove"), after having "run" for 43 km.
The Etna Marathon is the key event of this year for those who loves hiking and running. This competition is really different from the others thanks to its highest summit. In fact, the summit is at more than 3 000 meters in height.
This race is one of the most important events for all the best athletes of the globe and is announced as the event not to be missed. The first edition had already made a name for itself joining the Guinness Book of Records as the highest vertical race in the world.
The management has worked to meet all kind of athletes and this year will provide two other "Super Races”.
The Super Mareneve from 0 to 1800 meters, 34.5 km, same route of the Super Marathon, but with finish line at Piano Provenzana. The Super RoundTrip from 1800 up to 2800 meters and return, finish line at Piano Provenzana, 14.5 kilometers. It takes place on the same trail that climbs from Piano Provenzana to Pizzi de Neri and the return will be along the so-called "Canalone of volcanic sand”.
We invite all athletes to read the rules carefully and follow the updates that the Management will provide regularly through social networks and the official website www.etnatrail.it.
