If you ever had a bucket list called 'Paradise Marathon' this one would be right there at the top! Held annually in the Cook Islands on the picturesque island of Aitutaki, the Pursuit In Paradise BSP Aitutaki Marathon will once again take place 23-26 March 2020.
The first Aitutaki Marathon was held May 2018 with an attendance of participants from all corners of the world. Marathon runners hailing from Germany, Netherlands, Scotland, Italy, Austria, United States, New Zealand and Australia as well as local Cook Island runners. Marathon royalty and world record holder Brent Weigner also participated, which marked the 156th country in which he has run in a marathon as well as his 325th marathon overall.
The BSP Aitutaki Marathon will run annually and we believe it will become an iconic event for marathon junkies and runners from around the world!
23rd of March 2020, Pasta Night & Race Briefing - A pasta dinner for all runners and supporters will commence at 05.30pm. There will be a
full race briefing and the opportunity for final race registrations to be completed.
24th of March 2020, Main Race Day - On the main race day for Aitutaki Marathon 2020, runners for all 3 distances (42.2km, 21.1km, 10km) will begin and end at Ootu Beach which enjoys a mesmerizing view of the Aitutaki lagoon. Refreshing coconut water and light refreshments will be available at the finishing point for all runners and supporters to enjoy.
25th of March 2020, recovery day - What better way to recover from the previous days running than a day out on the stunning Aitutaki Lagoon. Time to relax and unwind aboard a lagoon cruise gliding smoothly on the turquoise waters. Official prize giving dinner for the event will be held in the evening.
26th of March 2020, 5k Runway Fun Run - The Runway 5km Fun Run will bring the unique event to a close on the last day, 26th of March. Held on the Aitutaki airport tarmac (after planes have left) heading south to the end of the runway and back. Afterwards those inclined are invited back to the Aitutaki Golf Club for beverages.
