About Ocean Running Club Seaside Half Marathon & 5K

Runners get to enjoy a fast, flat road race with beach and oceanfront views at the Ocean Running Club’s Seaside Half Marathon, which welcomes both runners and walkers for this race along the Jersey boardwalk and into Island Beach State Park, which saw just over 630 runners cross the finish line each year.

Not to be confused with the event by the same name in Seaside, Florida, this race is run by many participants with an eye on gearing up for fall marathons in the New York and New Jersey areas.

The Ocean Running Club (ORC) was formed by a group of running friends in the late 1970’s and formally became a Running Club in May 1980. It is a family oriented athletic club that promotes and encourages running and walking as a competitive sport and as a means of healthful exercise. Our members, about 350 of them, range in age from 8 to 80. We sponsor a variety of events throughout the year, and the common thread through all of our events is FUN! We like to run hard, we like to compete, but above all else, we like to have fun together!

The ORC is a non-profit organization and holds membership in the Road Runners Club of America. ORC Member benefits include reduced pre-registration rates for club sponsored events, a monthly newsletter, discounts at area stores, a year-end awards banquet, club meetings with guest speakers, and the camaraderie of a friendly group of running or walking partners for racing or training.

The Half Marathon is flat & fast with a New Course that takes you from beach to bay! Starting at the famous Beachcomber Bar & Grill, runners will run south into Seaside Park with a few turns through the beautiful residential neighborhood before running along side the bay. Runners will then be directed north through the neighborhood, loop back to the boardwalk and run to the north end of Seaside Heights until back at the Beachcomber. But it doesn't end there - runners will repeat the same loop TWICE!
