Storm King Soccer Fields
The North Olympic Discovery Half Marathon takes place on a unique point to point course that incorporates the beautiful Olympic Discovery Trail with stunning views of the Olympic Mountains and a five mile finishing stretch along the shores of the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
The Half Marathon starts at the Storm King Soccer Fields (1240 N Barr Road). Athletes head south for 1/4 mile before turning west on to the Olympic Discovery Trail (ODT) beginning the journey to City Pier through flat, rural farm lands with views of the Olympic Mountains. Athletes descend to Siebert Creek leaving the trail briefly, and using Wild Currant Way to ascend gradually to the Old Olympic Highway for a short crossing over Siebert Creek. Athletes meet back up on the ODT heading west. Miles 4 – 7 roll through a mosaic of green offering shade on warm days. Athletes descend to the picturesque trestle over Morse Creek, and from the creek, climb the last hill. The final 6 miles descend gradually with the last 5 miles finishing flat and fast along the shores of the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
