The MTC LEJOG is a challenging ultra-marathon event that reverses the traditional JOGLE (John O’Groats to Land’s End) route, conducted primarily on roads. Designed for the most dedicated and fit athletes, this race covers a substantial distance over a demanding 17-day period. Safety is a top priority, with route modifications being made each year to ensure competitors have a secure and enjoyable experience.

Competitors can expect to receive high-visibility technical t-shirts and jackets, all personalized with their names, the year, and the race name, courtesy of the event organizers and their sponsors, Mount to Coast. Additionally, each participant is provided with complementary high-quality footwear. Participants must also prepare for varied weather conditions by bringing appropriate clothing and equipment.

The event enforces a strict 4 mph minimum pace requirement, with cut-off times set along the route to help keep runners on track. Competitors falling below this pace could be withdrawn from the race. To promote environmental responsibility, the race is cup-free, urging runners to bring reusable cups.

The event limits the number of participants to 12 athletes to maintain an intimate and manageable competition atmosphere. Time constraints are strict, with no runners permitted to continue beyond 22:00 each day.

Accommodation is provided from the end of Day 1 to Day 16 by the event organizers (URL). Competitors must arrange their own lodging at Land’s End post-race. The provided accommodations include shared rooms in hostels, hotels, B&Bs, and Travelodges, with efforts made to separate male and female athletes when possible. Respect for these accommodations is mandatory, with potential disqualification for those who do not adhere to cleanliness and respect standards.

The MTC LEJOG offers a unique opportunity for ultra-running enthusiasts to test their limits on this iconic route, while enjoying the support and camaraderie of a close-knit group of fellow competitors.

URL are continually adapting the route and it is a work in progress that has, and continues to, cost us a not insignificant amount of money and time.

It is for this reason that we only provide mapping and gpx information to our own competitors. This information is emailed directly to competitors four weeks before the event.
