Initially known as the Humpy’s Marathon, which began in the early 1990s, and later dubbed the Big Wild Life Runs, the Anchorage RunFest has been a staple event in the Anchorage community since 2008. Over the past few years, the race has evolved from a small running event into a major marathon affair attracting runners from all over the United States and across the globe. The number of participants is expected to continue to grow as individual runners and groups both large and small travel to Anchorage to run the fast Anchorage Mile, and scenic 5K, 13.1 mile, 26.2 mile, and 49K courses.
