Course highlights
The Marathon Cup BTT will be held as part of the Sea Otter Europe festival and will traverse the iconic landscape of the Vall de Llémena.
The route begins at Fontajau, gliding towards Sant Gregori, covering a distance of 6.5 km. Upon reaching the Argelaguer bridge, participants will enter a trail leading to the Font del Raig at 8.2 km. From here, the course alternates between paths and tracks, featuring both ascents and descents through lush forests, eventually arriving at the church of Sant Gregori at 13.2 km.
Entering the Corriol at the Font de can Verdaguer, the route heads towards Can Taco de Ginestar at 19 km, then proceeds into the riera de Llémena area. Participants will cross the river at 20.7 km, encountering a technical cobblestone climb before continuing the ascent to the 24 km mark, where the XCP and XCM routes diverge. A descent to Llora follows, featuring a flat 3 km stretch for leg recovery.
At 30.5 km, the course crosses the Llémena river again, leading to a steep climb up the track to the 32 km mark, where refreshments and technical support are available. The route then shifts to the other side of the mountain, entering a section of technical descents and ascents, reaching 41.5 km where the XCM and XCP routes reconvene, with another refreshment point.
The final part of the course heads towards Sant Grau, with alternating ups and downs along the track until reaching 47 km. From here, the route flattens out towards Sant Gregori, following the corriol along the Ter river, ultimately concluding at Fontajau at the 59.2 km mark.
