Maasai Mara Marathon
Join Maasai Mara Marathon
The Masai Mara Marathon is a spectacular annual race held in the scenic and world acclaimed Maasai Mara National Reserve. It is a spectacle that gives the marathon participants and sponsors that rare and memorable privilege of racing in the jungle, all the while, sampling the panoramic reserve with wild animals in the vicinity. Maasai Mara National Reserve is renowned both for its spell-binding menu of natural beauty sites and as a valuable source of economic revenue through tourism.
For the last three years the Marathon continues to grow in leaps and bounds. There has been massive response in participation from local and international participants. Pools of local and international corporate organizations have also been sponsoring the marathon over the years. These include: KICC, NSSF, KTB, Capital FM, Dasani, E-plus (Red Cross), KWS, Ministry of Sports, Art and Culture among many others. This has generously contributed to the success and growth of the Masai Mara Marathon and, more importantly, scaling up support to the cause that the marathon advocates.
The Masai Mara Marathon’s main objective is to raise funds to support conservation of the Mara National reserve as well as community-based projects around the Maasai Mara. The Marathon, which is held within Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve, is a highly visible athletic event with immense media covering. The Marathon aims to raise funds to be channeled towards conservation of the Maasai Mara ecosystem and raise awareness of the plight of the communities and wildlife that live within and around the Mara.
