Join Kelowna Wine Country Half Marathon
The Kelowna Wine Country Half Marathon is the first event in the popular series produced by Destination Races held outside of the United States. Kelowna is the centerpiece city of the Okanagan Valley, a year-round recreational paradise in British Columbia, Canada. This emerging wine region is set amongst beautiful mountains and Okanagan Lake, with abundant sunshine and ideal growing conditions for many premium wines and many varietals.
You’ll love this scenic and fast course starting on the East Bench above Kelowna at The Vibrant Vine with magnificent views of the lake and downtown Kelowna. After a descent from the East Bench, the course runs along the greenbelt, then the lake before finishing on the promenade in front of the Delta Grand Okanagan Resort. Everyone then gathers in expansive Waterfront Park to celebrate their accomplishment at the Wine & Music Festival in one of the most beautiful settings imaginable. Activities are planned all weekend so bring your friends or family and plan to stay and play in this spectacular playground in the heart of British Columbia, Canada!
Course highlights
Where else can you run past vineyards and fruit orchards with vistas of a magnificent 135 kilometer long lake surrounded by mountains, and your finish area situated 21.1 km below in clear view? And the reward at the end is Waterfront Park and beach, filled with music, locally grown foods and unique, premium wines poured by vintners from a dynamic, emerging wine region.
This race starts at the Vibrant Vine and its colorful tasting room complete with its 60’s music and Haight Ashbury themed décor and wine labels. The first 9.7 km of the course meanders through farms, vineyards, fruit orchards, fields and homes perched on a bench above the lake and the City of Kelowna. The relay transition area is at kilometer 12.5 on Cosorso Rd.
The final 6.4 km follow along the lake, eventually passing through City Park for the grand finish next to Waterfront Park and the Delta Grand Resort. A fun-filled Wine & Music Festival in the park await the finishers as they gather to celebrate this magnificent journey and collect their rewards and awards in the park. Relax on the beach, enjoy the views, and explore the eclectic offerings of downtown Kelowna.
