Join Helsinki City Running Day
Sportyfeel Helsinki City Run half marathon is the biggest running event in Finland having over 12 000 (2016) participants. Helsinki City Run (HCR) takes place in May. The route combines city, sea-view, parks and goes along the Helsinki Central Park. This year’s route is flatter and faster route than ever before.
Helsinki City Run is an excellent way to see Helsinki and its most beautiful sides. There are 10 start groups where you will be able to join the runners running about at the same pace. HCR invites you and your friends for a great and active time in Helsinki!
Helsinki City Run has a new route! The course has been planned based on the wishes of the runners. The new route is more urban than in previous years but has kept its charm with the beautiful seaside, park and forest views.

There is no age limit for Helsinki City Run and all the runners participate at their own risk. However, the participation of a runner under 18 years old, is under minor´s parent´s responsibility.
There are four (4) refreshment stations along the route and one at the finish area (kilometer signage are approximated and possible to change): I ca. 5 km II ca. 10 km III ca. 15 km and IV ca. 18.0 km.
Every runner finishing within the three hours maximum running time will receive a HCR medal. Also the fastest runner in each age group will be awarded. A prize ceremony will be held for the overall best woman and male runners at the stadium.
Helsinki City Run equipment storage is located at the Bollis 6, next to the Sonera Stadium. It’s open 11 AM-8 PM (11:00-20:00) on the event day. The gear check area will be guarded. Only runners wearing a HCR bib number can leave and pick up their bags there. All the goods left to the storage need to be put inside of official HCR gear check bag given at the race office. Remember to add your bib number sticker to the gear check bag! You may collect the bag with your bib after the race. Please note that the organizer is not responsible for lost items. A separate storage service for valuables is recommended for items such as wallets, cell phones, and watches etc.
Maximum running time in Helsinki City Run is three (3) hours from the last start. The maximum running time is three (3) hours and the runner must follow this schedule during the entire race. There will be check points which the runner must pass within the given schedule. A runner is assumed to be discontinued the race if he or she does not progress within the given schedule. A runner who stays behind the control personnel continues the run at own risk.
There is no reserved parking for the runners near the Sonera Stadium. It is recommended to use the public transportation to reach the event venue.

During the event, our photo partner MarathonFoto, will take pictures of all the runners before, during and after the race. Check Helsinki CIty Run photos from here. All pictures taken will be available online after the event only for runners who have given their permission to photos while registering to the event. If you haven´t given the permission but still want to do so email: [email protected], and give your permission to the photos before the race day. You can also log in to your registration profile and add the permission there.
Along the route, the refreshment stations serve water and Sportyfeel Sports Drink (lemon taste) 5%. Unfortunately, due to large number of participants, special diets cannot be taken into consideration.
Helsink City Run timing system works with bib tag attached to the bib number. Bib number needs to be attached to the front of the shirt, so that it is clear and visible. Bib number is personal and it cannot be given or trasferred to another person for safety reasons. Gross time (from firing of the gun to crossing the finish line) is the official result of the race. Also so called the net time, time from crossing the starting line to crossing the finish line, will be given for each runner.
