Join Hallowine Run

This end of wine harvest and Halloween themed race runs through the renowned Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys in late October when the weather is ideal for running and the autumn-colored vineyards glow in the warm sunshine. This visually stunning course starts at Virginia Dare Winery and finishes on the expansive grounds of Trentadue Winery for the post-race Wine + Music Festival.

Enter the costume contest, win wine awards for your age group, and enjoy wine-tasting, food, beer, exhibitors, live music and more! A Hallowine 5K is also offered. The event activities start on Thursday so bring your friends so you can celebrate in style and explore one of the most beautiful wine regions in the world.

Course Highlights

From the starting line on the small town’s main street of Geyserville Avenue, the course heads first north and then west, turning onto Canyon Road and taking runners into the Dry Creek Valley.

It’s run mostly through Sonoma Count’s Dry Creek Valley. A couple of miles along Canyon Road lead to Yoakim Bridge Road, and then a right turn to head south on West Dry Creek Road, which runners will follow for the next 4 1/2 miles.

The hilliest stretch of the race occurs in the first couple of miles; after the steep climb between miles 1 and 2, the race begins a long and very gradual downhill for most of the remainder of the race, punctuated by numerous gentle, rolling hills throughout the course.

The rest of the course is framed by the mountains on the right and the flat vineyards that stretch out for miles on the left, as runners make their way past more than a dozen wineries through Dry Creek on the way to Healdsburg.

Practicalities

Aid Stations

Seven aid stations and one wine stop are located on-course between the start and finish areas. They are placed on-course at key locations and intervals approximately 1.5 miles apart.

Equipment Storage

A gear check area is provided at the start for runners to place their warm-ups and other items in the bag provided by race staff. Write your bib number and name on the bags and they will be transported to the finish area for pickup. Any items left at the event will be donated to charity after 14 days.

Maximum Time

To enter the half marathon you must be able to finish the course in 3 hours and 30 minutes and keep a 16:00/mile pace or better. Casual walkers are not permitted in the half marathon due to this time limit. If you cannot keep the required pace on course, you will not be guaranteed course supervision by law enforcement and volunteers. Transportation to the finish area for non-finishers without medical problems will be provided via the SAG vehicle.

Refreshments

Water will be offered at each aid station and GU Hydration Drink (Lemon lime flavor) will be provided at every other aid station. GU Energy Gels (Chocolate, Vanilla Bean, and Salted Watermelon flavors) will be distributed at Aid Station #5. Please discard wrappers in trash receptacles at aid stations, or put them in your pocket, not alongside the road.

Timing

The race is chip timed to provide accurate and fair results for runners. Runners will receive a chip and gun time in the results. Top 3 overall finishers are based on gun time, all other finisher results use chip time results. The timing chips are disposable and do not need to be returned.
