We are already working towards experiencing a Cruce 2024 amidst the most beautiful landscapes of Patagonia, as we have been doing for the past 24 years. This time, we will traverse the trails of the majestic Volcán Lanín, one of the most stunning points in the Lanín National Park.
Our intention is for you to immerse yourself in the mountains from the moment the race begins. Therefore, the chosen routes will be challenging and will require significant physical exertion. It is crucial that you train diligently.
The two camps where you will rest are incredible places, immersed in nature, allowing you to enjoy a unique environment to make your experience complete.
We would like to thank the local communities for allowing us to explore such a rugged, well-preserved, and remarkable area as the trails of Volcán Lanín.
The host city, San Martín de los Andes, will be the accreditation point, and the final destination will be on the shores of Lake Lácar. In recent editions, with few exceptions, we have enjoyed very favourable weather. What will it be like in 2024? No one knows. The Cruce is a race that begins the moment you register. Physical, mental, and logistical preparation starts now.
Get ready to experience an event of trail running, adventure, camping, and camaraderie with runners from around the world.
See you in Patagonia! See you in San Martín de los Andes!
Course details
Runners must have excellent physical training and previous experience in adventure races. All participants must present a fitness certificate signed by a doctor to the organisers.
STARTS
For the start of Stage 1, participants will need to be transported by buses from San Martín de los Andes. The start of Stage 2 will be from the Camp. Once the second stage is completed, all runners will be transported by buses to Camp 2. Finally, Stage 3 will start within Camp 2 and finish in the centre of San Martín de los Andes.
OASES
In this edition of El Cruce, there will be one Oasis in Stage 1, one in Stage 2, and two in Stage 3. The locations of these will be announced along with the elevation profiles of each stage. At each supply station, runners will find:
WATER
GATORADE
SOFT DRINKS
FRUITS
SAVOURY SNACKS
SWEET SNACKS
It is prohibited to leave poles, clothing, backpacks, or any personal or non-personal items at the Oases.
CHECKPOINTS (CP)
The marked route will have Checkpoints (CP) that competitors must pass through. At each CP, there will be a person from the Organisation responsible for that checkpoint. In specific cases, there may only be a signal. Skipping a CP will result in disqualification from the race unless the runner goes back to pass through it.
TIME LIMITS AND CUT-OFF POINTS
The Organisation will set time limits for each stage. Based on these, they will determine CUT-OFF POINTS along the routes.
Time limits for GROUP 1: 12 minutes per kilometre.
Time limits for GROUPS 2, 3, and 4: 14 minutes per kilometre.
At the Cut-Off Points, competitors must stop and will be transported by the Organisation to the next camp. The following day, they can continue the race but will be classified after the last runner who completed the full route.
The Organisation’s decision to enforce the cut-off due to time limit expiry is final and must be adhered to. Any competitor who does not comply will be automatically disqualified and will not be allowed to continue in the following stages.
Additionally, the Organisation has the authority to enforce cut-offs due to weather conditions at points on the route they deem necessary.
