Lake Pleasant Regional Park is a large outdoors recreation area straddling the Maricopa and Yavapai county border northwest of Phoenix, Arizona. The park is located within the municipal boundaries of Peoria, Arizona, and serves as a major recreation hub for the northwest Phoenix metropolitan area. The park covers a total of over 23,000 acres (93 km²) of mountainous desert landscape, including the lake, and boasts a number of other recreational activities, such as mountain biking, camping, and hiking, and its annual Dam Good Run Trail Race.
The Dam Good Run is a unique opportunity to run across the New Waddell Dam. Aravaipa Running in partnership with Lake Pleasant Regional Park brings you its annual run, now with a 40 kilometer option on many of the park’s newest trails. The 40 kilometer course will utilize newly constructed trails traversing along the shoreline and above the lake. The 40 kilometer course climbs to the top of Yavapai Point with incredible lake views. If you are lucky you may get the opportunity to spot a Lake Pleasant burro or two along the way.
