The Crete Senesi Ultramarathon is a thrilling endurance event that takes participants on a journey through the beautiful landscapes of Tuscany. Starting from the charming historic center of Rapolano Terme, runners will navigate through the picturesque countryside of the Crete Senesi region, renowned for its rolling hills, cypress trees, and breathtaking views.
Participants will face a challenging but rewarding course. As they make their way along the carefully planned route, they will pass by historic Tuscan villages, vineyards, and olive groves, immersing themselves in the rich cultural heritage of the region.
The race culminates with a stunning finish at the EXPO Parco dell'Acqua, a magnificent park showcasing the natural beauty of the area and its thermal waters.
Course details
Initially the three routes are quite flat and include the same stretch for about ten kilometres. After Armaiolo, in the locality of Laticastelli, we find one of the many refreshment points organized in the village of the same name.
Still a piece of road together then the 15 km goes back passing through Santa Maria while the 50 and 30 km turn towards the Chiarne local road, entering the heart of the route through hilly white roads, with even challenging ups and downs and which retraces the famous race Heroic cycling.
For the 50K, having reached its 15th km, turn left and after crossing the hills of the Crete Senesi it arrives in Asciano, we are halfway through the work, but there is no need to worry because in ours you have the opportunity to taste the local foods.
Still the 50K continues towards the historic medieval village of Serre di Rapolano and then reaches the Castle in San Gimignanello.
Along the way, some farms are gearing up to offer their products.
Then you arrive at the Modanella Castle along an ancient Romanesque path made of embedded stones with refreshment points set up in the castle courtyard.
A few more kilometres, these plains between Tuscan farmhouses will take you to your intended destination at the Water Park.
The 30K, unlike the Ultramarathon, turns towards Torre a Castello and then returns towards Laticastelli and Armaiolo and then reaches the finish.

Frequently asked questions
When and where can I collect my BIB/race pack?
The bib can be collected from 3 May 2024, at the EXPO, upon presentation of the confirmation letter and an identity document with photo: Friday 3 May, from 15:00 to 20:00 Saturday 4 May from 08:00 to 20:00 Sunday 5 May from 06:00 The times and place of bib collection may vary and will be published in the updated program of the event, on https://creteultramarathon.it/ The race briefing will be held at 18:00 on Friday 3 May at the Expo 2024 Water Park in Rapolano Terme.
What is the cancelation/refund policy for this event?
There is no refund of the registration fee under any circumstances. It is possible to transfer your already purchased bib by and no later than 30.04.2023.
Who can participate in competitive races?
Italian and foreign athletes registered for companies affiliated to CSI - FIDAL - RUNCARD and other sports promotion bodies with membership and medical certificate of competitive fitness can participate. Non-registered Italian and foreign athletes can also participate, but must necessarily possess the medical certificate of specific competitive fitness for athletics, performed in Italy, valid on the race date.
Who can participate in non-competitive races?
Open to everyone without the need for a membership or medical certificate; they are held on the same track and at the same time as the competitive ones but do not include rankings or time tracking.
