About Colombia International Marathon

Colombia’s varied terrain is fertile ground for outdoor adventurers to dive, climb, raft, trek and soar. Santa Marta is the undisputed adventure capital, but Colombia boasts alfresco pleasures in all corners. Some of the continent’s most iconic trekking is here, and is dramatically varied. Santa Marta is South America’s oldest surviving city and the second most important colonial city on Colombia’s Caribbean coast. The secret to Santa Marta is to use it for what it does well: hotels, restaurants and bars, and then get out to the slew of superb destinations nearby during the daytime. It’s as a base that Santa Marta excels: come here for a destination in itself and you can easily be disappointed.

With that said, Colombia International Marathon is the place to be!!

A course that represents Colombia – unique, full of contrasts and utterly stunning. Join with thousands of Colombian runners as you take on this challenging and dramatic course. There’s little doubt this will be the peak of your running career. The Colombia International Marathon is part of the Impact Marathon Series. It describes itself as a "Post-Conflict Impact Marathon".

The Impact Marathon Series is a social business designed to harness the simple power of running to sustainably build communities, bring people together around huge causes and leave a lasting impact on the world. Our mission is to change the world through running. We create experiences that go so much further than just running a race. Across the Impact Marathon Series, we’ll be tackling all of the 17 UN Global Goals. Our runners will truely see the impact of their time, money and resources by visiting and meeting all of the projects they are supporting. It’s charity as you’ve never seen it before.

Our unconventional take on the half marathon. Start up in the gorgeous and unique Dryforest (imagine a rain forest with no rain!) you'll wind along the famous Rio Gaira, along trails as you drop down into Santa Marta along the train tracks to a wonderful beach front finish.

As the 23km runners head down the hill for you, brave soul, the only way is up - be prepared for start that will put your legs under pressure from the beginning. Once this climb is done you'll begin the downhill before meeting the other runners and enjoy the sound of the Rio Gaira into town for the most amazing finish you'll have ever experienced. After 1500m of climbing in 35C heat there's no doubt you'll savour this moment.
