Tucked away in the rugged terrain southwest of Bandera is Hill Country State Natural Area, an undeveloped and secluded retreat. This forms the background for the Cactus Rose Endurance Runs.
This is a rugged trail running race that was designed to test runners. No whiners, wimps, or wusses.
The course can go by quickly because of it's picturesque views; technical climbs and descents; and fun terrain.
But be careful looking at the scenery too long, you might end up face first in a cactus!
The event features 100 mile and 50 mile distances.
