The Baxters Loch Ness Marathon, taking place 28 September 2025, is one of the most beautiful marathons in the world, following a spectacular route alongside Loch Ness in the Highlands of Scotland.

The iconic marathon follows a spectacular point to point route alongside world famous Loch Ness and is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful marathons in the world. Why not make a weekend of it and come with family or friends? There’s plenty to entertain runners and spectators over the weekend with an expo, runners' cafe, street food, live music, pipes & drums and family friendly activities..

And if marathons aren’t your thing, there’s also the Baxters River Ness 10K, 5K and Wee Nessie kids' race. Entry for all races available now.

Many runners and spectators, choose to stay longer – a huge attraction of the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon and Festival of Running is the area’s natural beauty and wealth of attractions. The area is steeped in history, home to castles, misty mountains and, of course, the Loch Ness Monster.
