Join Band on the Run Half Marathon
Pretty Huntsville, Muskoka’s largest town, set among twisting lakes and furry pines, is the gateway to Algonquin Provincial Park in eastern Ontario. Base yourself here for day trips to the park, around Muskoka, or before setting off on an Algonquin adventure, although you’ll have to have your own wheels
With that being said, the Band on the Run Half Marathon is the place to be!!
ENJOY live bands playing rockin’ tunes along the route as you CHALLENGE yourself on our Muskoka Hills. All levels of runners welcome. Whichever distance you choose you will be cheered on by our incredibly spirited group of volunteers.
We’ve got an inspired route for you leading from River Mill Park in downtown Huntsville through beautiful golf courses and farm land to the lush hardwood forest of Arrowhead Provincial Park. Are there any hills you ask? What Muskoka running course doesn’t have hills, we answer. So yes, there are a few hills, nothing too grueling, but certainly enough to make it a challenging run.
The route is an out and back layout with start and finish in River Mill Park and turn around point in Arrowhead Provincial Park. The route forms a partial loop run clockwise starting north on Centre St N and eventually returning along Shay Rd, Chaffey, Elm and John Streets and crossing the Main St bridge towards River Mill Park.

After Race Services
We will be providing muffins, bananas and fruit.
Participants in the Half Marathon must be 16 years of age or older on June 11th, 2016. Participants in the 10k and 5k must be 12 years or older on June 11th, 2016 OR accompanied on the run with an adult who will run at the same pace. We recommend that participants in the kid’s run running unaccompanied should be 6 years or older on race day.
There will be a total of 5 aid stations along the 1/2 marathon course. Because the course is an out and back format, you may pass by them more than once. That means you’ll pass by 9 aid stations on the 1/2 marathon route, 3 stations on the 10k and 1 aid station on the 5k route.
Race cut-off is 12:30pm. We have OPP and traffic control volunteers directing traffic and monitoring your safety at major intersections along the course starting at 8:30am. This isn’t an easy job as you can imagine, so we let them go after 4 hours. If you find yourself still on the race course after 12:30pm, simply follow the sidewalks or shoulder of the roads until you get back to the start/finish area in River Mill Park. We’ll still be there to cheer you on!
There are many places to park that are close to the Start/Finish line. Here’s a list in no particular order: Parking Lot at Caroline Street E / West Street N (1 min walk), Parking Lot at Minerva Street W / West Street S (5 min walk), Parking Lot across from Tim Hortons on King William Street (5 min.walk), Parking Lot at Canada Summit Centre (10 min walk)
Water and Electrolyte Drink.
We are pleased to have top of the line “chip-on-the-bib” chips. These are disposable, flexible and light and they are attached right to the back of each race number bib.
