The Auckland Marathon is iconic on the New Zealand running calendar and fast gaining an international reputation. New Zealand’s Premier Road Race is made up of five events: Full Marathon, Half Marathon, Quarter Marathon, Heart Foundation 5km Challenge & KIDS MARATHON all set to start November (the first Sunday after Labour weekend).
Take in the spectacular views which Auckland has to offer while running across the iconic Auckland Harbour Bridge in the Marathon and Half Marathon events. New Zealand is the active travelers dream destination with a variety of contrasting landscapes from the subtropical North Island which includes Auckland and Wellington to Queenstown on the South Island with its myriad of options for hiking, skiing, and water sports. More than one third of the country is contained within national parks or reserves.
The Marathon course is measured in accordance with IAAF guidelines. In summary, the course is accurate and times can be used for example as Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games qualifiers. The Auckland Marathon is a full AIMS member.
