The Extremo Sul Ultramarathon challenges participants to cover 226 kilometers across vast stretches of sand in a remote and unpredictable landscape. Competitors have up to 52 hours to navigate the expansive route where the boundary between sand and sea blurs, creating an endless corridor that tests mental resilience.
This self-sufficient race spans several checkpoints established by the organizers, yet each year, it highlights the limitations of human control over the natural world. It is essential for participants to be fully prepared to rely on their resources throughout the event, not just between stations.
Taking place on the world's longest beach, located in Brazil's southernmost region, this race stretches from Barra do Chui in Santa Vitória to Cassino in Rio Grande. This is more than just a beach; it is a place rich with tales of challenge and perseverance, but also of learning, escape, and profound personal change.
