Overview

Marathon

The start takes place in Piata Sfatului, near the History Museum. Then you go down Apollonia Hirscher street, cross GH.Dinicu street to the traffic roundabout on the Castelului street. Once you reach the roundabout, you turn right on the Castelului Street. The street goes slowly up towards the “Maria Baiulescu” National College (on the left) and near the Sports High School (on the right). At the first crossing, turn left on the alley that goes along the foot of Tampa Mountain (Tiberiu Bradiceanu alley).

From the Tiberiu Bradiceanu alley, the trail goes up on the “Drumul Serpentinelor” (“The windings’ road), towards the Tampa’s crest, on the red triangle sign. From there, go down on a forest road to Tampa’s trough and you continue until the road intersects the Valea Cetatii forest road, marked with blue triangle.

The trail follows the forest road to the right, going slowly up. The road turns later into a footpath that crosses the “Crucurului” crest. At this footpaths’ crossing turn left, on the footpath that goes up on the crest, marked with a blue band.

Once you reach Ruia Clearing, the trail goes up, parallel to the Sulinarul slope, until Postavarul Peak (1799 m). From the top you go down to Postavaru Cabin and further down to Poiana Brasov.

Then you follow the path that runs over the resort until you reach the checkpoint “Cariera Veche”. From here the trail follows the path marked with a blue dot, climbing easily, until it reaches a clearing that has a cross of paths. From there the trail goes up in the right direction, on the path marked with the same blue dot, until the “Crucurului” crest. The trail goes down this crest to the “Stehil” Clearing.

From this point, the trail crosses the clearing towards the left and goes down until the point called “Fantanita Dreptatii” (the mark is a blue cross). From here the trail passes behind gardens and then it goes straight up to Tampa’s trough.

From here you follow the forest road that goes down to the promenade that surrounds Tampa Mountain. You go along the promenade until you reach, again, the Tiberiu Brediceanu alley; from here toward the Piata Sfatului and Finish!
