Join Tromsø Mountain Challenge 2026
Late August you can take part in the Tromsø Mountain Challenge (TMC) that contains four mountain races and is a celebration of Mountains Running.
There are three races on Saturday - TMC Dalheim Rundt 8km trail, Tromsø Mountain Ultra 50K and HalfUltra 25K. Buses bring the participants of the TMC Ultra 50K to Snarbyeidet where they embark on 50 kilometres of mountina terrain before finishing in Tromsdalen. The unique Arctic landscape set the stage for a spectacular race through an active reindeer herding District. The history of Sami reideer herding in this area goes back serveral hundred years. About half-way the participants from the TMC HalfUltra 25K join course with the 50K runners and side by side they ascend and descend the mountatins encircling the valley of Tromsdalen.
The TMC Extreem Race is on sunday. 2,4K uphill run along the famous Sharpa Stairs in Tromsdalen that was built by Sherpas from Nepal. The race finishes at the Cable car station 420 meter over sea level.

Can I change the distance after I purchase a ticket?
It is only possible to transfer in case of illness or injury which is confirmed with a medical certificate. Administration fee of NOK. 150 must be paid, and a medical certificate must then be sent to us no later than one week after the race
What is the cut-off time for TMC?
La Spotiva Ultra 50K: Max time limit by checkpoint Tromsdalselva (32km) is 5 1/2h (14:30). If you use longer time you will have to finish your race here, and continue directly to the finish area by The TUIL Arena in Tromsdalen Valley and report to a race marshall. The total maximum time for the Ultra 50K is 9h. La Sportiva HalfUltra 25K: 6h

T-shirt (must be in your backpack when you cross the finish line) Map (provided by the organizer) Compass or GPS (GPS watch and compass in watch is not approved) Food (minimum 150g food left in your backpack when you cross the finish line) Windbreaker jacket Windbreaker pants Hat Gloves Whistle (to call for attention if you are in need of help) Cellphone Water bottle (or skin) Warming blanket/foil (provided by organizer, applies only to the 50K race)
