Spanning 21.1 km (13.1 miles), this course begins and ends on Old Airport Road in West Yellowstone, leading you into the stunning Custer Gallatin National Forest. Athletes will tackle technical dirt trails filled with loose rocks, tree roots, and challenging ascents—perfect for those looking to push beyond traditional pavement races. Experience the thrill of potential wildlife sightings and breathtaking forest panoramas as you race through Montana's wild terrain. For those seeking a shorter challenge, a 5K race takes place the evening before. The event features a 4-hour time limit, making it accessible for walkers who can maintain an 18.5-minute mile pace. Cup-free event
In order to minimize trash created, this will be a cup-free event. You'll be required to have your own cup for water or Gnarly at the aid stations (e.g., a Nathan reusable cup, a handheld water bottle, a bladder system, etc.). Cups will not be provided at the start or finish line or any of the aid stations.
