Ioannina Half Marathon

The Half Marathon of Ioannina is probably the fastest race of 21 km , because it is not affected by the weather (high temperatures etc), while it is also one of the most beautiful thanks to the natural beauty of the landscape and the historical past of the city.

Match description
The race starts from Mavili Square in a direction SE and after about 100m. following the circular route parallel to the walls of the Castle of Ioannina, on Averof Street.

At 200m. we turn right (Kountourioti Street) and enter G. Papandreou Street for about 2km, where we check-point and return from the opposite direction of G. Papandreou, reaching the 4th km in front of the start (Mavili Square ).

We continue on the lakes and cross the streets of Dionysios Skilosofos, Garivaldi, Metsovo and we enter K. Papoulias.

At the 7th km of the route, we turn right onto Str. Voyianou, turn left to Nicopolis-Papanastasiou-3rd September-Ethnikis Antistaseos and reach Katsika settlement (12 km).

We turn left towards Kastritsa Monastery and at 500m we turn left again, heading for the 3rd bridge of the pedestrianized lakeside.

From the 3rd bridge and following the lakeside pedestrian / cycle path, we pass in front of the entertainment park “Odeon”, turn left onto Str. Voyianou turning to the first roundabout, continue to K. Papoulias, Garrivaldis, D.Skylossopou, enjoying a straight 7km route. overlooking the lake of Ioannina, to end at Mavili Square.
