Named after the prominent silk trading that occurred during this epoch, the Silk Route was an essential path that passed through Kinnaur, Rampur, Narkanda, Shimla, Kalka, and eventually reached Delhi. Unfortunately, as time passed and roads became the primary mode of transport, the significance of this historic route slowly faded into obscurity.

THE Silk Route Ultra Trail begins at Narkanda. Narkanda is a picturesque habitable mountain pass in Shimla District, Himachal Pradesh. By Train Shimla is the nearest railway station to Narkanda. By Bus Narkanda is 65 km from Shimla. Shimla is well connected to most major cities in India by regular bus service.
